1985 Land Rover Defender 110 Hi-Cap Blue Project (B)

Duffy’s Garage Build of a 1985 Land Rover Defender 110 Hi-Cap Blue Project
This project started off as a simple one.  The client wanted to add heated seats, custom roll cage, tuffy boxes in the back and step sides.  All of this was completed, then the customer decided to do A/C installation.  The customer was also worried about the TD5 engine that had been installed in the vehicle.  These engines are prone to leak oil down the wiring loom and damage the ECU and wiring harness itself.
We found out prior to installation that the ECU did have damage and contained a fair amount of oil on and around the terminals.  We advised the client about the situation and his decision was to “replace it all”.  So we ordered up a new ECU and an entire engine and dash loom for the vehicle.  The current dash loom had originally been for a right side drive vehicle that had been stretched and damaged prior to our client's purchase.  It seemed a good idea to replace it as well.
This was a fun but long project, being that there are not a lot of TD5 trucks in this country and we are able to do installation fairly easy.
Added: Step side / Custom re-wiring of entire vehicle, Engine loom, Dash loom and injector loom, New ECU and Programming/ New bed storage boxes / Custom roll cage / Air Conditioning Installation / Front Exmore Seats / Front Heated Seats

Hello World

Duffy’s Garage
Home of Land Rovers
Duffy’s Garage opened in November of 2009 in Birmingham, Alabama.  We are a dealer level diagnostics service center for all imports, but our specialty are Land Rovers.  Our lead mechanic was born and trained in Birmingham, England and moved to the US only a little more than a year ago.
A few months after opening in Birmingham, we found out that not only was there a large need for a service center specializing in Land Rovers other than the dealership, but also a place for Defender owners to go.  For the last year we have had trucks coming from all over the Southeast to see us.  We decided for the end of this year and from now on we are going to document these builds to help other and give other Defender owners ideas of thing that they can try with their trucks.
